ZANTE

Zante is the southernmost island of the Ionian Sea and is referred to as the Flower of the East or “Zante”, or the Flower of the Levant according to the Venetians. It is the eleventh largest island in Greece, as well as the third largest (after Kefalonia and Corfu) and second most populous island in the Ionian Islands.

The exotic beach of ”Navagio” with its pure white sand and green-turquoise waters, Laganas, Marathonisi, Gerakas, Vasilikos, and the Blue Caves are considered among the most beautiful beaches in Greece.

National Marine Park

One of the impressive attractions of Zakynthos is the first National Marine Park of Greece, frequented by the rare sea turtles Caretta caretta. In the spring, they start from the Gulf of Libya and the N. Adriatic, to arrive there and lay their eggs on the beaches of Kalamaki, Gerakas, Daphni, and Marathonisi.

Among the typical dishes, the Imam eggplants (stuffed with onions, tomatoes and parsley and baked in the oven), the Briam (potatoes, carrots, zucchini and tomatoes in the oven) and the stuffed tomatoes and peppers (the filling is with rice and tomatoes).

To and from Zakynthos airport

Access by Car..

The airport is connected to the island’s capital via the Zakynthos – Keri provincial road. The journey by car takes approximately 15 minutes. Address for navigation device (GPS): Zakynthos Airport, 290 92 Zakynthos

Access by Bus..

The airport is served by ‘KTEL Zakynthos S.A.’ and is connected by regular bus routes to Zakynthos town. The airport bus stop is located within walking distance of the terminal building. You can purchase a ticket inside the bus.

Zakynthos Ports

The two main ports of Zakynthos are in Zakynthos Town and Agios Nikolaos, Volimes.

You can also moor your boat in Agios Sostis, Keri, Alykes, these are not main ports, but you can safely anchor your boat here.
